Regina Bateson is a proud native of California’s 4th District. She’s an
award-winning professor, an experienced public servant, and the devoted mother of three young children. She’s running for Congress to fight for a better future for us all. Regina is from Roseville, CA. She attended the local public schools and graduated as class valedictorian, while working several part-time jobs. Regina went on to earn a BA from Stanford University and an MA and PhD from Yale University. After 9/11, Regina joined the Foreign Service. She served at the US Embassy in Guatemala City, issuing and denying visas and assisting American citizens in distress. Regina has worked as an assistant professor of political science at MIT. Starting in September 2017, she will be a visiting fellow at Stanford University. Regina represents the future of the Democratic Party. She has a top-notch education, and she’s capable of going toe-to-toe with the most powerful actors in Washington. Yet she also knows what it’s like to work a minimum-wage job under the blazing sun. Regina has spent her entire life fighting for the rights of ordinary people. Whether she’s researching human rights violations, teaching her students, or helping newly-arrived refugees, she believes everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Regina is running for Congress because Donald Trump and Tom McClintock are a threat to us all. Our democracy is under assault. Basic rights and liberties are in jeopardy. Our planet risks irreversible harm. Now more than ever, we need members of Congress with the courage and integrity to stand up for what’s right. That’s Regina. |
Tom McClintock is far right of his pro-environment district and in prior elections no serious challenge has been mounted. He has one of the most active Indivisible movements in his district and his town halls have made national news showing him in a very unfavorable light.
McClintock is out of touch. He does not live in the district. In 2008 he promised to move to the district, but he’s never done it. Local Republicans are defecting from McClintock. His extreme views and rude behavior are out of step with the district. McClintock’s unpopularity has spurred the development of a large grassroots movement in the 4th District. More than 10,000 local activists are fired up and eager to defeat McClintock in 2018. Their tough questions at town halls have drawn national coverage. Bay Area transplants are pouring into the district. Several large subdivisions are in the final stages of construction. At least 23,000 people are expected to move into the district before the 2018 election. If Democrats invest in California’s 4th District, they can win. The 2016 candidate lacked a war chest and ran a campaign with no professional staff, polling or serious media buys. The last time the Democrats ran a real campaign in the district, they came within 1600 votes of beating Tom McClintock. |
