There are election-oriented events like fundraisers and postcard parties and issue-oriented events like Statehouse actions.
This Muster gives you the latest, but so much is happening (and so quickly) that you should check our website homepage and calendar for updates and additional events sponsored by our fellow Indivisible groups and allies that we weren't able to include in this newsletter.
Time to charge ahead to protect our democracy, advocate for social justice, and restore sanity to our government.
We hope to see you this Monday evening for the monthly meeting of Minuteman Indivisible. The Theme for February is "Get Ready to Get Out the Vote"
We'll be texting for the Environmental Voter Project (EVP) in their Get Out the Vote Project. EVP uses Hustle for texting and we will be providing training on how to use it - you'll need to know how to use it through out 2020 so come get trained now! There will also be opportunities to text with MoveOn for those already connected to that platform. Bring your laptop or a smart phone to EVP text!
Rebecca Riccio will also be leading a phone bank for Maine. This phone bank is all about collecting background information from Democratic voters. A friendly audience!
We’ll be writing postcards for the Vote by Mail project in Florida. (Did you know voters are much more likely to vote if they register to vote by mail?).
Plus we'll be offering "Slack" training so you can more easily connect with Indivisibles outside of meetings and on specific topics. Slack is a messaging application that Minuteman is using along with many other Indivisible groups.
Reception for Carolyn Bourdeaux This Weekend! Sunday February 9, 6-7:30 pm
Join us this Sunday for a evening reception with Carolyn Bourdeaux, Democratic candidate for GA 7th Congressional District at the home of Teresa Wright
GA 07 was one of three races selected for support by Minuteman Indivisible.
You may recall that in 2018 Carolyn came just 433 votes away from unseating the incumbent Republican.
Carolyn is the clear frontrunner in the Democratic primary and has been endorsed by Emily's List, Andrew Young, Civil Rights hero Rep. John Lewis, and Senate candidate (and former House candidate) Jon Ossoff. It will be be the top targeted House district in the nation. She can win it this time, but needs our support to do it.
Please come meet her and learn why we need her to represent Georgia and all of us in Congress!
Cocktails and refreshments will be reserved. It will be a fun evening.
Please RSVP here to let us know if you can attend, and to get the address.
Even if you can’t join us, please consider making a donation to help Carolyn reach the voters she needs

SUPPORT ELECTION DAY VOTER REGISTRATION
Every election, Massachusetts disenfranchises thousands of its own citizens by denying eligible voters the ability to register or update their information on election day. Two out of three people who were prevented from casting a ballot are actually registered but are rendered ineligible because their registration contains simple and fixable errors. Election Day Registration (EDR) will help fix that.
Join us and our allies in the Election Modernization Coalition at the State House on Tuesday January 28 from 10am-noon for an EDR Lobby Day. Get more details here and use this link to RSVP.
Announcing "Together for 2020"! A Collaboration by Indivisible MA,
Swing Left, Progressive Mass + others
Last December over 400 activists gathered for a conference organized by Indivisible MA entitled "Together for 2020", partnering with several organizations including Swing Left, Sister District, Progressive Mass and Force Multiplier. There were dozens of workshops where we learned how to be most effective in our electoral, advocacy and grassroots work. Growing out of that partnership a new 2020 collaboration is in the works. "Together for 2020" will provide opportunities for activities and events for all organizations all in one place -- leveraging the strengths of all those organizations in this very crucial year for our democracy. We'll keep you posted when the project launches.
HELP TURN MAINE BLUE
Susan Collins just voted to acquit Donald Trump, stating she hoped he "learned his lesson" about extorting a foreign nation to help skew an election. It's time we redouble our efforts to defeat her in November.
Last fall, our elections team selected the Maine Senate race as a key one to focus on to help flip the Senate. In 2020, we'll be coordinating with our friends at Swing Left Greater Boston who've been working in Maine since last year.
Unseat Susan Collins There are hundreds of volunteers who stand ready to reach out to voters in Maine to oust Susan Collins and ensure Democrats' success in Maine in the 2020 election. Please support the Maine Democratic Party to fund the work of a field organizer to coordinate grassroots efforts in the state, so that volunteers can be used effectively in the final GOTV efforts in November.
None are totally comprehensive, and they are subject to change as candidate schedules are in flux, but it's a good place to start.
This Saturday evening the NH Democratic Party will host all the candidates at the The McIntrye–Shaheen 100 Club dinner. Tickets to that are $20.
Jaime Harrison is taking on Lindsey Graham and MI members are helping in the fight!
Jaime Harrison was in Boston last week for a fundraiser to support his candidacy for Lindsey Graham's Senate seat and MI member Melanie Thompson was in attendance.
For those of you unfamiliar with Harrison, he has a pretty impressive and interesting background. And he is going after Lindsey Graham -- HARD. Last quarter Graham raised $3.9 million, but Jaime went toe to toe with him, raising $3.5 million. Based on the numbers and interest in his campaign, Harrison has a real shot at the seat.
To do it will take some work and Harrison is taking on the challenge. Currently there are 400,000 unregistered black voters in the state. Obama lost to McCain by 100,000 votes. Clearly there is an opportunity and a need to register more black voters and make the electorate more accurately reflect the population. Stacey Abrams' Fair Fight Program is working in South Carolina to combat voter suppression and Cory Booker raised over $100k for Harrison’s campaign.
After the SC Presidential Primary in March, he will need lots of assistance in every way to help him win in 2020! Click here to learn more about his campaign and to donate.
IMPEACHMENT IS OVER. TIME FOR PAYBACK
GOP senators made their choice, opting to help with Trump’s cover-up and refusing to hold him accountable for his numerous crimes. Now, especially for those up for re-election this year, our job is to make sure their constituents never forget this moment and vote them out in November. That’s why we’re launching a peer-to-peer texting campaign, where volunteers from anywhere can reach out to engage voters across nine target states to take action with Indivisibles in their area and mobilize locally to flip their Senate seats.
