Next week, the House is likely to vote to impeach Donald Trump. For almost 3 years, we've been working together to protect our democracy - NOW IS THE TIME TO PULL OUT ALL THE STOPS!!
This spacial edition of the Muster contains urgent actions to support the impeachment process that we hope you'll take and share with your family and friends. Please sign up to join us at rallies next Tuesday before the expected impeachment vote, call or email your MoCs, and reach out to voters in key states with Republican Senators to demand a fair trial in the Senate.
Republicans are vociferously supporting the president (including targeting vulnerable Democrats and driving thousands of calls to MoCs). Make your voice heard against this president's corruption and authoritarianism now!
We'll be sending out a regular issue of the Muster next week, but in the meantime, check our homepage and website calendar for more actions and details on other events, including our last two December MI events next week.
SIGN UP FOR AN IMPEACHMENT RALLY NOW!
Rallies will be next Tuesday, Dec. 17 if the full House vote on impeachment takes place next Wednesday as expected.
Sign Up For One of the Nearly 500 Rallies Planned Across the Country Locally, rallies are planned in Boston, Cambridge, Concord, Framingham, Reading, and Sudbury as well as in Andover, Haverhill, Newburyport, and several locations in southern NH (find and sign up for rallies here).
We're co-sponsoring the rally that our friends at Concord Indivisible are organizing at 5:30pm outside First Parish Church in Concord where Senator Michael Barrett, Rep. Tami Gouveia, and comedian Jimmy Tingle will be speaking (sign up here), but encourage you to sign up for whatever rally is most convenient.
The GOP has been loudly proclaiming that no one cares about impeachment - we need to show up in large numbers to show they're wrong!
Contact Us to Get a Sign or Make One of Your Own Email us if you'd like one of the signs that members made at our monthly Activism Evening this week. You can also make signs at Concord Indivisible's Activist Huddle this Sunday December 15 from 3-5pm at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center, 1276 Main St. in West Concord.
If you're making your own sign, we suggest using fluorescent duct tape or attaching a clip-on light to make it more visible. Also check out these ideas for signs from our recent meeting - if you're planning to join us in Concord, we'd love to see signs that showcase our patriotic history.
CALL OR EMAIL YOUR MOCs
Call or Email Your MoCs and Ask Family and Friends to Do the Same Indivisible has heard reports that congressional offices are being deluged with calls about impeachment, but not the calls we need. Some offices are reporting THREE TIMES as many calls from right-wing anti-impeachment callers than pro-impeachment voices. Republicans are using Facebook posts and TV ads targeting districts Democrats flipped last year to generate many of these calls.
It’s important to call our MA MoCs even though they’ve already said they’re supporting impeachment, both to give them positive reinforcement and also because it gives them good talking points to use when speaking to their colleagues. With a vote in the House expected next week, we’re running out of time -- so please contact them now!
Phonebank with Indivisible to Demand a Fair Impeachment Trial You may have heard reports or seen the video of Mitch McConnelltalking earlier this week about the upcoming impeachment trial and stating that "everything I do during this, I’m coordinating with White House Counsel. There will be no difference between the President’s position and our position as to how to handle this."
Sign up here to pitch in an hour of your time to connect voters with their senators to demand a fair and complete impeachment trial. Hundreds of volunteers have already used Indivisible's Hubdialer tool to make over 600,000 calls to friendly voters in key states and connect them with their Republican senators, and Indivisible hopes to make more than one million calls!
The Senate is deciding on rules for the impeachment trial right now; if McConnell and Schumer can't reach an agreement, the procedures for the trial will be voted on by the entire Senate. McConnell needs only 51 senators to agree with him to hold the type of trial that Trump wants, but if 3 Republican senators vote against McConnell on the procedures, there will be at least a chance of having a fair trial.
The Muster usually comes to your inbox during the first and third week of the month.
Keep checking the MI Calendar and our homepage for the most current line-up of events and actions.
